PROJECT MANAGER – WAREHOUSE AUTOMATION

JOB SUMMARY

Adaptec is hiring a Project Manager to focus on small to extensive complex material handling projects. Projects may include complex WMS software, high-speed conveyance, sorting systems, and palletizing. The Project Manager is responsible for leading a team tasked with completing automation projects by a set deadline, within a defined budget, and ensuring compliance with quoted scope. The Project Manager will be the primary contact between the Internal and External stakeholders.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Apply a strong understanding of financial outcomes and ability to meet critical deadlines.
• Coordination of all activities associated with the assigned project/s from the receipt of a customer order to the completion of the project.
• Work closely with the sales team to develop the approach to technical and commercial changes that will impact the scope of supply and pricing changes.
• Provide Project Change Orders (PCOs) to customers for changes to project scope or schedule, either directly to the customer or via the sales team as mutually agreed with the sales team.
• Work to maintain positive cash flow on all projects and work with a support specialist to follow up on past-due invoices.
• Manage project budgets, track project costs, and communicate status consistently to management according to Adaptec standard processes.
• Development and execute equipment, subsystem, and system commissioning and integration test plans.
• Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options to maintain schedule, budget, and scope.
• Utilize MS Project to develop detailed project schedules inclusive of all in-scope engineering, installation, and integration schedule activities as well as explicit and implicate out-of-scope milestones by others (i.e. owners and general contractors) impacting project execution.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in business, project management, operations, engineering, and/or a combination of education and work experience.
• 5-8 years of successful experience in the Material Handling Industry with exposure to Automated Storage and Retrieval systems (ASRS) is highly preferred.
• Demonstrates and applies broad knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures for managed work group(s) and how it supports related operations.
• Demonstrates excellent knowledge of Automation components, suppliers, processes, logic, and risk.

SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB:
• Knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities and impact of project execution when interfacing with General Contractors, Construction Managers, or owners (e.g., Planning, Monitoring, and Completing the Installation).
• Experience working as a Project Manager for large-scale projects.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, including the ability to liaise with all levels of staff as well as internal and external stakeholders.
• Competent use of MS Office applications, MS Project and financial control packages.
• Ability to build trusting and credible relationships with customers.
• Advanced analytical, critical thinking, negotiating, managerial, organizational, decision-making, risk management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
• Development and execute equipment, subsystem, and system commissioning and integration test plans.
• Experience coordinating on-site activities involving many (sub)contractors vying for the same space and time windows.

SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE JOB, cont:
• Total travel can vary between 25-30% (Project Kickoff – 5%, Onsite Visits- 5%, Installation and Commissioning 15-20%). Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to set and manage multiple priorities, establish deadlines, and ensure the timely completion of projects.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles, precise percentage of complete.
• Ability to develop and deliver oral presentations and written materials for various audiences and multiple venues.
• Ability to use AutoCAD is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and industry-related technical instructions and specifications in mathematical or diagram form to understand and define product requirements.

MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS:
• Adherence to project budget.
• Project completion per contracted schedule.
• Deliver the project scope according to contracts.
• Adherence to monthly revenue generation efforts, including ensuring milestone invoicing is current, labor and material are accounted for and charged accordingly.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $95,000 to $120,000. The salary range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Adaptec Solutions considers factors including, but not limited to experience and geographic location.
