Job SummaryThe Vice President of Tax, North America is responsible for leading all tax and customs activities across the United States and Canada. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for income tax, indirect tax, transfer pricing, customs, tax accounting, compliance, audits, and planning. The VP of Tax serves as the primary tax advisor to North American leadership and as the key liaison with global leadership on regional tax matters, ensuring compliance while optimizing cash flow, effective tax rates, and business outcomes.Job DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesTax Strategy & LeadershipSet and execute the North American tax strategy aligned with global tax objectives and business priorities.Advise senior leadership on tax implications of M&A, restructuring, investments, financing, and cross-border activities.Identify and implement tax planning opportunities to optimize EBIT, net income, and free cash flow within applicable legal frameworks.Compliance, Reporting & Risk ManagementOversee U.S. federal, state, and Canadian income tax filings, tax provisions, and tax accounting (including IAS 12).Ensure compliance with indirect taxes, customs regulations, and transfer pricing requirements.Lead tax audits and examinations and manage disputes with taxing authorities.Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and develop mitigation strategies for emerging tax risks.Customs, Transfer Pricing & Indirect TaxLead customs import and export strategy, including duty optimization and USMCA considerations.Oversee transfer pricing documentation and compliance for U.S. and Canadian entities.Develop and issue binding tax and customs guidance to North American group companies.People, Process & Technology LeadershipLead, develop, and mentor the North American tax team.Select and manage external tax advisors, tax software, and research tools.Drive process improvements and automation to increase efficiency and shift focus toward value-added planning.Qualifications & ExperienceMinimum QualificationsBachelorās degree in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA10+ years of progressive tax experience across multiple tax disciplinesPrior people management experience requiredStrong expertise in U.S. federal and state taxation and tax accountingWorking knowledge of Canadian taxationDeep knowledge of tax compliance, tax accounting, transfer pricing, indirect taxes, and customsExperience with tax software and research tools (e.g., OneSource, CCH, BNA)Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skillsStrong judgment, integrity, and ability to operate independently in complex environmentsPreferred qualificationsMasterās degree in Tax or AccountingSAP experience Mexican tax exposureBenefits OverviewWe offer competitive company benefits to eligible positions, such as :Medical, Dental, Vision InsuranceLife Insurance and DisabilityVoluntary Wellness Programs401(k) and RRSP programs with Company Match Paid Vacation and HolidaysTuition ReimbursementAnd more!Benefits may vary based on job, country, union role, and/or company segment.
