Transcriber-Medical I
Overview Job Summary Transcribes/types medical reports from dictated information for the legal medical record. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities • Provides physicians with medical reports from dictated information for the legal medical record. • Edits/corrects transcription reports. • Utilizes applicable computer systems to transcribe/type medical reports by maintaining acceptable levels of competency of current transcription/dictation software. • Assists in training medical transcription trainees/new employees. • Completes assigned goals Specifications Experience Minimum Required • One year experience in a hospital setting. (preferred) Preferred/Desired Education Minimum Required • Skill in communicating clearly and effectively using standard English in written, oral and verbal format to achieve high productivity and efficiency. Skill to write legibly and record information accurately as necessary to perform job duties. Preferred/Desired Training Minimum Required • Knowledge of Medical Terminology /Anatomy and Physiology and proper use of English grammar and spelling. Preferred/Desired • Completion of Transcription Program Special Skills Minimum Required • Knowledge of Computer, ability to type 60 words per minute, ability to proficiently transcribe medical information with a 90% accuracy rate at minimum.
