Junior Designer (Architectural or Interior Focus)
Float Studio is a small interior architecture and design studio based in NYC. They are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Interior or Architectural Designer to support project teams across all phases of design, from programming and concept through construction administration and installation.ResponsibilitiesConduct site surveys and draft existing conditions in RevitPerform program and code researchSet up and maintain files for new and active projectsDevelop floor plans, fit tests, furniture plans, and interior elevationsAssist in design development including plans, elevations, details and custom furniture piecesAssist in the development and coordination of construction documents, including plans, elevations, details, and schedulesAssist in Construction Administration including submittal logs and RFIsConduct FF&E research, sourcing, and vendor coordinationUpdate FF&E schedules and project trackers based on existing templatesDevelop placeholder furniture budgets based on existing templatesPull pricing and lead times for specified itemsHelp research alternates when needed and document options clearlyRequest, track, label, organize, and return samples as neededKeep the process moving so decisions do not stallHelp keep our sample library organized over timeAssist in preparation of client-facing materials including FF&E presentations, floor plans, elevations, and concept documentsCoordination with contractors, architects, subcontractors, and vendorsManage individual deliverables and workflow within larger project schedules and communicate any conflicts to the design teamHelp coordinate deliveries, including confirming delivery windows and access requirementsReceive and check in occasional deliveries and samples at the studioHelp document issues quickly if something arrives damaged, incorrect, or incompleteSupport installation days as needed, including assisting the team with punch list follow up and vendor coordination after installGain familiarity with and uphold the firm’s brand guidelines, resources, and standardsSkillsBased in New York City and available to work in office at least 3 days per weekLegal authorization to work in the US1-4 years in a design studio, architecture studio, or similar environmentProfessional degree in Architecture (BArch or M.Arch) or Interior Design (BFA, MA, or equivalent)Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Revit, Autocad, Miro, Bluebeam, 3D ModelingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsKnowledge of standard office software (i.e. Google Suite)Company OverviewArchinect operates a digital platform that publishes architecture news, community discussions, job listings, and firm and school profiles.
