Key Responsibilities
As an Elementary ESL Teacher, your primary responsibilities will include:
Testing entering students for ELL services utilizing the MODEL and WAPT screeners
Planning and delivering English language development instruction for ELL students
Working collaboratively with general education teachers to assess the progress of students on a regular basis
Conferencing with parents and teachers concerning individual students
Consulting with classroom teachers regarding curriculum differentiation necessary to meet the needs of the English language learner
Maintaining records for direct served and monitored students
Maintaining and improving professional competencies by attending professional development opportunities
Attending staff meetings at building and district level
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Current Illinois Elementary Professional Educator License (PEL) with ESL Endorsement/Approval
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to demonstrate competency in organization, flexibility, and cooperativeness
Related experience with ELL students in a pull-out program
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
ACCESS and MODEL certification
Experience with curriculum development and implementation
Knowledge of WIDA standards and assessments
Familiarity with technology integration in the classroom
