POSITION OVERVIEW The Director, Strategic Utility Engagement, will act as a key external-facing strategist to support the origination and execution of long-term framework agreements with utilities and corporate off-takers. This individual will leverage a deep understanding of utility procurement, regulatory processes, and corporate buyer dynamics to anticipate challenges, influence decision-making, and drive partnerships that go beyond traditional PPAs. RESPONSIBILITIES Act as a strategic facilitator for origination and execution of framework agreements with utilities and corporate energy buyers. Serve as an internal advisor and problem solver, recommending alternative approaches when regulatory, procurement, or planning hurdles arise. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure strategies align with counterpart procurement, IRP, and regulatory requirements. Monitor regulatory, policy, and market developments to anticipate approval challenges and adjust strategies proactively. Build and maintain relationships with utilities, regulators, and other key stakeholders to position the company as a trusted partner. QUALIFICATIONS 7–10+ years of experience in the U.S. energy sector, with exposure to utility procurement, regulatory affairs, or large-scale origination. Direct experience with utility RFPs, contract negotiations, and regulatory filings (e.g., PUCs) strongly preferred. Deep understanding of IOU and corporate buyer processes, including procurement, IRP alignment, and regulatory approvals. Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to translate counterpart organizational challenges into actionable solutions. Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal functions. Excellent executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills. Prior experience working inside an IOU procurement, resource planning, or regulatory team. Background in regulatory affairs, energy policy, or external affairs related to renewable development. Strong professional network with IOUs, regulators, and policy stakeholders.
