This team drives the development of our massive-scale big data applications and pipelines, along with various distributed computing services and supporting applications. This group is a critical component in building, deploying, and running the essential applications upon which all of arenaflex's software ecosystem depends.
Our Data Analysis team collects, stores, and analyzes diagnostic and usage data from arenaflex devices across the globe, continuously keeping client privacy at the forefront. Our data is used to generate insights that lead and drive product strategies across all software and hardware development. We create and operate a variety of on-device software and Big Data products and applications in support of these goals. These systems process multiple petabytes and billions of messages each day across diverse data types.
Position Overview
As the Data Engineering Manager at arenaflex, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data infrastructure. You will lead a team of talented engineers responsible for ingesting, processing, storing, and analyzing petabytes of fascinating telemetry data from millions of devices worldwide. This is a leadership position where you will both set technical direction and provide mentorship to experienced professionals, working on complex challenges that span from the device level all the way to big data scale.
In this role, you'll have a profound impact on the entire arenaflex software organization and ultimately help arenaflex improve, build, and deliver the products that consistently captivate our customers. You'll be responsible for the development, quality, and integrity of the data pipelines that deliver a diverse set of data types to other engineering teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management: Build and drive high-performance software teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Provide mentorship, guidance, and career development opportunities for team members.

Architecture & Design: Architect, build, and maintain complex, multi-part big data systems that scale to meet growing demands.
Problem Resolution: Lead the team in solving modern engineering challenges from the device level all the way to massive data scale.
Performance Optimization: Ensure systems are optimized for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency across distributed computing environments.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
Multiple years of Data Engineering management experience leading and supporting the development and maintenance of applications, tools, and processes
Proven track record of building and driving high-performance software teams
Experience architecting, building, and maintaining complex, multi-part big data systems
Demonstrated ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of quality and integrity
Strong sense of pride in the development process and the drive to push teams toward continuous improvement
Technical Skills & Expertise
We are looking for candidates with master-level expertise in Data Engineering tools and technologies, including processes, goals, and methodologies. You should have extensive experience with the following:
Programming Languages: Master-level proficiency in at least two of the following languages and their related development tools: Python, Ruby, Java, Scala, Swift, or Objective-C
Big Data Platforms: Hands-on experience with one or more of the following platforms: HDFS, Yarn, Flash, Impala, Kafka, HBase, MapReduce, Kubernetes, Object Store, or Flink
Distributed Computing: Deep understanding of distributed computing principles and architectures
Data Pipeline Technologies: Experience with modern data pipeline frameworks and real-time streaming technologies
