Wetland Delineator- Staff Biologist
About the position
SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an experienced Wetland Delineator - Staff Biologist to join their Arlington, TX office. This role involves conducting various natural resources field studies, including wetland delineations and wildlife surveys, while ensuring high-quality project work in environmental consulting services. The position offers a hybrid work schedule and the possibility of remote work for applicants in Texas or adjacent states.
Responsibilities
ā¢ Assist with conducting natural resources field studies including threatened/endangered species assessments, wetland delineations, and avian/wildlife surveys.

ā¢ Conduct fieldwork, organize and transfer field data, and write technical reports and permit applications related to environmental regulations.

ā¢ Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, GPS units, and other tools during fieldwork.
,
ā¢ Safely operate SWCA-owned and rental vehicles, including 4-wheel drive vehicles.
,
ā¢ Complete individual tasks of medium complexity or duration with oversight.
,
ā¢ Mobilize field crews and equipment, coordinate land access, and manage data transfer.
,
ā¢ Execute data collection in the field through self and others, and perform a broad range of tasks related to wildlife, plant, upland, and aquatic resources.

ā¢ Complete field data QA/QC and conduct research, including basic data synthesis and analysis.
,
ā¢ Write deliverable sections under direction and communicate with clients or agencies as directed by the Project Manager.

ā¢ Oversee the implementation of the safety plan in the field and supervise a small crew during environmental fieldwork.
Requirements
ā¢ Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Botany, Environmental Science, Fish and Wildlife Science, Ecology, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.

ā¢ Minimum of two years of experience conducting wetland delineation fieldwork and wildlife/environmental fieldwork.
,
ā¢ Completion of a 38-hour wetland delineation training course or demonstrated equivalent.
Nice-to-haves
ā¢ Knowledge and environmental survey experience in Texas ecology.

ā¢ Familiarity with mapping software such as ArcGIS and GPS devices.
