Summary

In summary this position will provide leadership in the planning and directing of the academic and administrative activities of the School of Music involving the development, exploration, implementation, and administration of a variety of programs designed to maximize student development and promote excellence in instruction. Review and evaluate academic plans, curriculum and course proposals, and academic schedules; review and prepare materials to be submitted to the Academic Policies Committee. Manage a comprehensive learning outcomes assessment program and direct the ongoing advising program. Coordinate fall and spring course offerings and schedules in conjunction with department chairs. Facilitate summer orientation program with the all-college orientation program staff. Implement academic policies and procedures and coordinate the resolution of student advising and misconduct issues with faculty, department chairs, staff, and parents. Help to develop and manage the school budget process and implementation. Represent the Dean at meetings, presentations, and events. Prepare various reports and analyses in support of the academic and administrative work of the school and College and provide leadership for special projects.

Qualifications

Appropriate terminal degree in music with significant teaching and administrative experience in a college or university environment; familiarity with new trends and developing practices in undergraduate education; substantial experience in the development and administration of academic programs, curriculum development and assessment, and instructional technology; substantial experience in budget development and oversight; ability to cultivate an inclusive, diverse and welcoming environment; ability to treat all people equitably and with a sensitivity and awareness to cultural difference; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for behavior that is supportive of a community that is diverse and inclusive; proficiency in the use of various applicable software applications; ability to represent the School of Music within the College and within the community; demonstrated supervisory experience and exceptional organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required. Hiring Range is $105,000-$115,000 depending on qualifications.
