Job Type: Part-Time (Under 4 hours daily)

Job Summary:
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is currently seeking a dedicated Transit Bus Operator. This is a part-time position that offers a competitive hourly wage and comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, paid training, and paid vacations.
Job Description:
As a Transit Bus Operator, you will be responsible for safe and efficient transit vehicle operation, adhering to schedules while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Responsibilities include:
– Operating various types of transit vehicles in a safe, timely, and courteous manner.
– Assisting customers with special needs, including those with disabilities.
– Adhering to all traffic regulations while operating vehicles.
– Performing pre/post-trip vehicle inspections as required.
– Reporting any vehicle malfunctions or concerns to the maintenance team.
– Responding to customer inquiries about schedules, routes, and services.
– Collecting fares and issuing tickets.
Requirements:
– Must have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
– Must have a good driving record.
– Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.
– Must have strong customer service skills.
– Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Educational Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Experience:
Previous experience as a bus driver is preferred but not necessary. Training will be provided.
