Teaching Fellow - Explore Engineering Innovation (EEI) at Johns Hopkins University
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Fellow to join our team for the Explore Engineering Innovation (EEI) program at Johns Hopkins University. As a Teaching Fellow, you will play a critical role in delivering an introductory engineering course to undeclared freshmen engineering students, focusing on hands-on lab experiments, group data analysis, and project-based learning. Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the instructor to develop a sense of community for high school students participating in the EEI class
Assist in delivering lectures, lab experiments, and group projects, with a focus on problem-solving and critical thinking
Provide guidance and support to students during lab sessions and projects
Assist with grading and providing feedback on assignments, lab reports, and projects
Ensure that child safety protocols are upheld and maintain a safe learning environment
Participate in pre-course training and review course materials prior to the first day of class
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline
Three+ years of experience as a high school teacher in a STEM discipline
Excellent classroom management skills and ability to engage students
Familiarity with Canvas or similar Learning Management System (LMS)
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
Availability to teach from July 3 to July 28, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering
Experience working with diverse student populations and backgrounds
