Student Financial Services Counselor

Hofstra University is nationally ranked and recognized as Long Island’s largest private university. The Student Financial Services Counselor provides personalized financial services assistance to Hofstra students and families, organizing and handling all aspects of administration while adhering to university regulations. Responsibilities Counsels students and parents concerning financial aid, bills, and payment Evaluates applications including performing needs analysis and determining eligibility for federal, state, and University awards Processes student account information and assists with outreach efforts both on campus and in the community, including high school night presentations Performs other related duties as assigned Skills Bachelor's degree required Minimum 1 to 2 years relevant experience Valid driver's license Strong interpersonal, administrative, oral, and written communication skills Working knowledge of PC based word processing and spreadsheets Strong customer service skills Familiarity with computerized financial aid systems, especially Ellucian Banner preferred Knowledge of college financial aid and/or college student account processes Company Overview Hofstra University is a private, non-profit, nonsectarian institution located in the village of Hempstead, New York It was founded in 1912, and is headquartered in Hempstead, New York, USA, with a workforce of 1001-5000 employees.
