Sr. Staff Software Engineer, Curation The Curation engineering team builds product features that are deeply engaging and uniquely Pinterest, including saving and creating Pins, Boards, and Collages, to inspire Pinners to create a life they love. We’re looking for a Staff Backend/API Engineer to be the tech lead across Curation Backend initiatives. What you’ll do: • Lead the team in developing robust and scalable backend services and APIs to power the future of inspiration on Pinterest. • Drive Backend technical solutions and strategic objectives across multiple teams. • Build effective alignment with design, product, frontend, and platform teams. • Uplevel the team through mentorship, feedback, and knowledge sharing. • Help define and evangelize best practices for backend engineering across the Curation organization, fostering a strong developer community. What we’re looking for: • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience. • Deep understanding of backend development, distributed systems, and API design principles. • 10+ years of industry backend application development experience, 3+ years experience as a tech lead. • Strong collaboration and communication skills. • Strong mentorship and coaching abilities. • Experience in following best practices in writing reliable and maintainable code that may be used by many other engineers. • Ability to keep up-to-date with new technologies to understand what should be incorporated. In-Office Requirement Statement: • We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection. • This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1-2 times a half and therefore can be situated anywhere in the country. Final salary is based on a number of factors including location, travel, relevant prior experience, or particular skills and expertise.
