Sr. Staff Hardware Design Engineer

Remote Full-time
Description
• Join Tensordyne, a pioneering AI system solution company at the forefront of generative AI inference acceleration. We are dedicated to building high-performance, low-power systems through custom silicon, hardware, and software, enabling multimodal Generative AI inference at scale for hyperscaler and neocloud data center customers.
• As a Sr. Staff Hardware Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the entire lifecycle of our cutting-edge AI inference solutions, from conceptualization and architecture to design, verification, and bring-up. Your expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of AI hardware, ensuring our products meet the demanding performance, power, and scalability requirements of our clients.
• You will be responsible for the architectural definition and detailed design of complex digital logic blocks within our custom AI accelerators. This includes microarchitecture specification, RTL coding (Verilog/SystemVerilog), and ensuring the designs meet stringent performance targets and power budgets.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including AI/ML researchers, software engineers, firmware developers, and system architects, to translate high-level AI model requirements into efficient and robust hardware implementations.
• Drive the verification strategy for your designs, developing comprehensive test plans, writing verification environments (e.g., UVM), and executing simulations to ensure functional correctness and adherence to specifications.
• Participate actively in the synthesis, place-and-route, and timing closure processes, working with physical design teams to achieve optimal silicon results.
• Take ownership of hardware bring-up and validation activities on FPGAs and ASICs, debugging issues, and working towards successful silicon qualification.
• Contribute to the development of innovative hardware architectures and design methodologies that push the boundaries of AI inference performance and efficiency.
• Mentor junior engineers, sharing your knowledge and experience to foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the hardware design team.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI hardware, semiconductor technology, and industry trends, identifying opportunities to incorporate novel approaches into Tensordyne's product roadmap.
• You will be a key contributor to defining the next generation of AI inference hardware, influencing architectural decisions and driving technical innovation.
• This role offers the unique opportunity to work on state-of-the-art AI accelerators designed for the most demanding generative AI workloads, directly impacting the performance and capabilities of AI systems deployed in hyperscale data centers.
• You will engage in challenging technical problems related to high-speed digital design, low-power techniques, and complex data flow management within AI accelerators.
• Your work will involve deep dives into the intricacies of AI algorithms and their mapping onto hardware, requiring a strong understanding of both digital design principles and the computational needs of AI models.
• You will be expected to lead design efforts for critical IP blocks, ensuring their successful integration into the larger system-on-chip (SoC) architecture.
• The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, the ability to work independently in a remote setting, and excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with a distributed global team.
• Contribute to the overall hardware development process, including documentation, design reviews, and process improvements.
• You will have the opportunity to work with advanced EDA tools for RTL design, simulation, synthesis, and static timing analysis.
• This position is crucial for Tensordyne's mission to deliver category-defining AI hardware, enabling the widespread adoption of advanced generative AI applications.
• We are looking for individuals who are passionate about AI, thrive in a fast-paced startup environment, and are driven to make a significant impact in the semiconductor industry.
• Your contributions will directly influence the performance, efficiency, and scalability of AI inference systems that power the future of artificial intelligence.

Requirements
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in digital hardware design, with a significant focus on ASIC design for high-performance computing or AI/ML applications.
• Proven experience in RTL design using Verilog or SystemVerilog, including microarchitecture definition and implementation.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture, digital logic design, and semiconductor design flows (synthesis, place-and-route, timing closure).
• Experience with verification methodologies (e.g., UVM) and simulation tools.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

ļø Benefits
• Competitive salary and equity package.
• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
• Flexible work arrangements and remote work opportunities.
• Generous paid time off and holidays.
• Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning.
