Software Tester

Summary/Objective

The Software Tester is responsible for meticulously examining software applications, employing various testing techniques and methodologies to detect and report defects or issues. The primary goal is to ensure that the software meets specified requirements, functions correctly according to user expectations, and maintains high standards of reliability and user satisfaction. Operating within a tier system, including Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 testers, each with distinct expectations, the role involves testing features and functionalities through manual processes. The Entry Level Software Testing position plays a crucial role in identifying and reporting bugs, glitches, or inconsistencies within the system, facilitating continual improvement and enhancement of the product, specifically contributing to the quality and functionality of our ATS.

Core Job Duties

● Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
● Continuously learn and stay updated on new technologies, tools, and best practices in software development.
● Draft and edit documents and presentations.
● Handle confidential information with discretion.
● Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and other Agile ceremonies to track progress and address any obstacles.
● Attend required meetings and keep calendar up to date.
● Test software applications and systems to identify and fix bugs, performance issues, and other defects.
● Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by users or discovered during testing and maintenance.
● Automation: Continuous improvement of metrics through process improvements and automation.
● Test Planning: Developing test plans, strategies, and test cases based on project requirements and specifications.
● Defect Identification and Reporting: Identifying, documenting, and prioritizing software defects or issues discovered
during testing, and communicating them to developers using bug tracking systems.
● Quality Assurance: Ensuring that software products meet quality standards, adhere to best practices, and comply with regulatory requirements through thorough testing and validation.
● Documentation: Creating and maintaining testing documentation such as test plans, test cases, test reports, and other relevant documentation to support the testing process and facilitate knowledge transfer.

Preferred Experience

● Minimum of 1 year of practical experience working with technology or software-related tasks.
● Hands-on Testing Experience preferred: Prior experience in manual and/or automated software testing, including test
planning, execution, and reporting.

Minimum Qualifications
● Ability to work mostly between business hours to coordinate with team members.
● High school diploma or equivalent required and 1 year of manual testing experience.
● Strong knowledge of database structure systems and data mining.
● Understanding testing tools.
● Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle.
● Agile working methodologies.
● Logic & Analytical Testing Skills.
● Demonstrate perseverance in identifying and resolving challenging software issues, even in complex or ambiguous situations.
● Problem-Solving: Skillfully troubleshoot software defects, isolate root causes, and propose viable solutions.
● Attention to Detail: Thoroughly examine software components, ensuring that no defects or issues go unnoticed.
● Time Management: Efficiently prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and balance multiple testing activities simultaneously.
● Quickly adjust to changes in project requirements, software specifications, or testing methodologies.
● Organizational Skills: Maintain testing documentation, track defects, and ensure thorough test coverage across various software modules.

Physical Demands

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods of time while maintaining concentration and accuracy with
repetitive work. Ability to work using visual attention and under a moderate stress level consistently.

Travel Required

Up to 15% travel.
