Software Engineer Intern - Enterprise Architecture

The Software Engineer Intern for Enterprise Architecture will develop, test, implement, and maintain software applications, specifically enhancing an internal application that tracks microservices architecture. Responsibilities Develop and support enhancements and new functionality for the ArchWeb platform using modern web technologies, including Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, and RESTful APIs Work closely with Architects, Engineering Directors, Engineers, and other cross-functional resources to define and deliver business impacting projects Capable of working collaboratively with team members on different teams and in different locations Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting as needed to support production issues Be willing to support deployments outside of work hours and participate in an on-call rotation Actively participate in all relevant agile ceremonies for each project iteration Skills Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in a computer related field Exposed to the concepts of an Agile based development methodology or similar formal methodologies are required Knowledge through coursework or personal projects of the following: Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, SQL, HTML5, CSS3, and experience with a modern JavaScript framework (e.g., React, Vue.js, or Angular) preferred Demonstrated organizational and teamwork skills, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to participate in collaborative development projects Excellent problem-solving skills and an ability to translate a business scenario into a technical solution Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience with a modern JavaScript framework (e.g., React, Vue.js, or Angular) Benefits Flexible and generous paid time off Competitive medical, dental, vision and life insurance 401(k) employer matching program Parental leave Wellness resources Charitable matching program On-site workout facilities (Leawood, Gilbert, Burlington) Community outreach groups Tuition reimbursement Company Overview At Ascend develop industry-leading online learning tools that help people enter, sustain and succeed in their careers.
