Ride Development at Walt Disney Imagineering

Ride Development Specialists at Walt Disney Imagineering are responsible for designing and building innovative ride systems that meet the company's high standards for quality, safety, and creativity. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Ride Development, you will lead the design and development of complex ride systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring Disney's imaginative concepts to life.

Key Responsibilities


Lead the design and development of complex ride systems, ensuring durability, reliability, and safety.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to define system requirements and interface specifications.
Direct the daily activities of an engineering and design team through all phases of work, including planning, mockups, production, installation, testing, and turnover.
Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
Lead large-scale verification of concept models and prototype efforts, including design, fabrication, and testing.
Collaborate with the project procurement team to evaluate, bid, and award outside vendor contracts.
Lead and manage the installation of ride mechanical equipment, field support, and testing.
Perform field installation and testing activities, including equipment/site inspections, use of fall protection gear, and navigating construction sites with catwalks, ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and confined spaces.


Requirements

Essential Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Advanced engineering knowledge, including statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, kinematics, and stress/strain.
Proficiency with design tools, such as SolidWorks, Navisworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, ANSYS, FEA, and Matlab.
Excellent design sensibilities and creative problem-solving skills.
Experience with mechanical engineering design, development, and testing.


Preferred Qualifications


Previous Disney or entertainment industry experience.
Knowledge of life safety design and requirements.
Experience with prototyping, development, or innovative products.
Technical certifications, such as EIT, FE, or PE.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
