Full Job Description: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems and integrated computerization for contact, sensing, and display modules across a diverse portfolio of products. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on innovative projects, collaborating closely with product design, optics, electrical, and software engineering teams to deliver exceptional products and groundbreaking innovations. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of mechanical designs, from concept to production, impacting a broad spectrum of products and future innovations.

Key Responsibilities:

End-to-End Mechanical Design: Drive the complete mechanical design process for independent functional systems, encompassing conceptualization, detailed design, prototyping, and testing.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with multi-functional teams, including product design, electrical engineering, and software engineering, to define requirements, resolve technical challenges, and ensure seamless integration.
Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFMA): Design systems with manufacturability and assembly in mind, considering cost optimization, efficiency, and quality.
System Requirements Definition: Foster system prerequisites, perform detailed analysis, and conduct rigorous testing to validate design concepts and ensure performance requirements are met.
Expertise in Optics & Precision Mechanics: Apply mechanical engineering expertise in the areas of optics, precision mechanical design, and motion control systems.
Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Utilize logical methods and analytical tools to troubleshoot issues, implement robust designs, and ensure system reliability.
Documentation & Standards: Develop and maintain best practices, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and a comprehensive library of approved designs.
Innovation & Exploration: Contribute to the exploration of new technologies and materials to enhance product performance and functionality.
Robotics Integration: Design systems for robotic integration and high-volume manufacturing environments.
Compliance & Testing: Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and participate in rigorous testing protocols.


Essential Skills & Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with a proven track record of successful product development.
CAD Proficiency: Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, Master/E).
GD&T Expertise: Strong understanding and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
Analysis Skills: Experience with engineering analysis techniques, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA), stress analysis, tolerance stack-up, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Manufacturing Processes: Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, such as precision machining, heat treatments, and other relevant techniques.
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex mechanical design problems.


Desired Skills & Experience:

Experience in hardware development, ideally within high-volume production environments.
Experience in opto-mechanical design, including camera/optical mounts, kinematic mounts, and consistent system design.
Experience in designing custom mechanical solutions for consumer gadgets and modules.
Experience in designing mechanical systems for PCB, FPC, connectors, and other electronic components.
Experience in designing high-precision components and motion control systems.
Experience working in low-moisture conditions/cleanrooms.
Familiarity with machine/PC vision systems.
Knowledge of optical system coordination, alignment, and structural testing.
Understanding of advanced mechanics, mechanization, and wafer/DUT handling systems.
Programming experience (e.g., Python, MATLAB) is a plus.
