Senior Environmental Planner - Energy, Telecommunications, Water, and Mining Industries
Join our team as a Senior Environmental Planner, where you will play a crucial role in leading and assisting with obtaining local, state, and federal permits for projects related to the energy, telecommunications, water, and mining industries. As a key member of our environmental planning team, you will utilize your expertise to navigate complex permitting processes, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Role Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Environmental Planner to provide environmental planning expertise and support to our clients. The successful candidate will have a strong background in NEPA, CEQA, and other local, state, and federal permitting processes, with the ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Lead and assist with obtaining local, state, and federal permits for energy, telecommunications, water, and mining industry projects
Conduct research and analyze requirements for various permits, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
Collaborate with staff, agencies, clients, and project collaborators to facilitate permit submittals and schedules
Synthesize and communicate permit stipulations and requirements to stakeholders
Track and organize permit processes and status, maintaining accurate records and reports
Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings, adhering to company policies and procedures
Support and participate in our company's culture of safety and employee ownership, upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism
Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline
Strong knowledge of NEPA and CEQA, with experience working with federal, state, and local agencies
2-3 years of experience in environmental planning, with a focus on permitting and compliance
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Highly motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to interact and coordinate with state, federal, local, and tribal agencies, as well as clients and stakeholders
Strong writing and editing skills, with experience in note-taking and record-keeping
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, with excellent communication and presentation skills
Requirements
5 years of experience working with or for federal, state, or local agencies preferred
Strong writing and editing skills, with experience in technical writing and reporting
Familiarity with typical utility operations and maintenance activities, as well as environmental planning principles and practices
Experience with Salesforce and ESRI GIS applications, including desktop, ArcGIS, Collector, Survey123, and other related tools
Excellent navigation skills and a good driving record, with experience driving a four-wheel drive vehicle off-road or in rough terrain
