We're now seeking an exceptional Senior Data Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in building the data foundations, interpreting complex data, and developing actionable insights for the Apple Developer Program. As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll leverage your expertise in working with massive data sets, your curiosity for uncovering causality behind patterns and trends, and your outstanding communication skills to deliver objective findings that drive informed decision-making. About the Role The WWDR Developer Programs & Infrastructure team is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to drive analysis for legal and regulatory initiatives related to the Apple Developer Program. As a Senior Data Engineer, you'll be responsible for: Developing and delivering reports on a recurring basis, as well as ad-hoc, that are critical in measuring Apple's compliance with global regulations, assessing the impact of initiatives to combat fraud, abuse, and malware, and ensuring transparency to developers and customers alike. Serving as a subject matter expert on data sources associated with our services and processes, providing insights and recommendations to engineering partners to enable deeper understanding and breakthroughs in measuring our work. Collaborating with cross-functional partners across legal, engineering, product, and support teams to identify opportunities to better represent the work we do and drive business outcomes. Supporting a global team, requiring flexibility and responsiveness outside of normal business hours. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of experience in data analysis, with a strong background in reporting, particularly in a highly-regulated industry or transparency reporting. Deep experience working with Oracle and HDFS, as well as proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Shell, JavaScript, and SQL. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following qualifications will set you apart: Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across an organization and work effectively in a cross-functional environment. Familiarity with mobile app development and the lifecycle of an app on Apple's platforms. Strong root-cause analysis skills, with a passion for identifying the factors driving shifts in trends and patterns. Experience working with large datasets (millions of records) comprising structured and unstructured data. Understanding and advocacy of version control, code review, and testing. Ability to design and implement batch-type, orchestrated data integrations. Experience with data validations and pipeline monitoring to ensure solution integrity and consistency. Strong technical proficiency, encompassing data, software, and infrastructure. Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex data analysis in clear, concise terms. Attention to detail, with a focus on data accuracy and quality of output.
