The Opportunity

In this role, you'll be instrumental in engineering, designing, and building our Data Products and Data Pipelines. You'll work with Scala and Python/Flash while maintaining uptime SLAs that our stakeholders depend on. Your expertise will help us implement Lakehouse architecture, working with key partners to transition towards a data-platform-driven future.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll be at the heart of our data operations, responsible for transforming raw data into actionable business insights. Here's what your journey will entail:


Architect and Build Data Solutions: Design and develop scalable solutions, building ETL pipelines in Big Data environments (cloud, on-prem, hybrid) that handle massive volumes of data with efficiency and reliability.
Lakehouse Implementation: Lead the implementation of Lakehouse architecture, collaborating with key partners to establish a modern, unified data platform that combines the best of data warehousing and data lakes.
Pipeline Development: Write and maintain robust data pipelines using Python, Scala, and Databricks, ensuring data flows seamlessly from source to consumption.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Data Product Managers, Data Architects, and Data Scientists to design, implement, and deliver successful data solutions that meet business objectives.
Documentation Excellence: Maintain detailed documentation of your work and changes to support data quality, governance, and knowledge transfer across the organization.
Operational Excellence: Ensure high operational efficiency and quality of your solutions to meet SLAs and support our commitment to internal clients (Data Science, Data Analysis teams).
Agile Participation: Be an active member and advocate of agile/scrum practices to ensure health and process improvements for your team.
Problem Solving: Be a problem solver; when given new challenges, research and collaborate to find innovative solutions.
Process Optimization: Search out answers to business problems and seek opportunities to automate processes and optimize costs.
Client Engagement: Engage with and understand our clients, forming relationships that allow us to understand and prioritize both creative new offerings and continuous platform enhancements.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications


Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience
Strong Algorithmic Thinking: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components
SQL Expertise: Strong SQL skills with the ability to write queries to extract data and build performant datasets
Distributed Systems Experience: Hands-on experience with distributed systems such as Spark and PySpark to query and process data at scale
Programming Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Scala and/or Python programming
Cloud Experience: Strong hands-on experience with Cloud technologies, specifically AWS
Database Experience: Experience with at least one major MPP or cloud database technology (Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery preferred)
Data Integration: Strong experience with data integration toolsets (Kafka) and writing and maintaining Data Pipelines with Databricks
Data Modeling: Experience in Data Modeling techniques and Data Warehousing standard approaches and practices
Agile Methodology: Familiarity with Scrum and Agile approaches
Communication Skills: Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with others and build consensus in a cross-functional team toward optimal outcomes


Preferred Qualifications


Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field
Experience with real-time streaming data processing
Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and MLOps
Experience with data governance and quality frameworks
Background in entertainment or media industry data platforms
Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
