Senior Bioinformatics Scientist (Epigenomics)

Position is available as a hybrid position in San Carlos, Bay Area, California as well as a remote position (within US).Natera is currently seeking a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Bioinformatics Research Team focused on Epigenomics in Oncology. Natera’s mission is to change the management of disease worldwide by using information gained from a simple blood draw to detect disease early and proactively inform treatment. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in algorithm development, genomics, sequencing data processing, and applied machine learning.RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, implement, and validate innovative algorithms and statistical methods to analyze large-scale data sets related to cancer detectionFoster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellenceWork closely with molecular biologists and clinical scientists to solve challenging problemsContribute to experimental design and ensure data integrity and quality controlQUALIFICATIONS: PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field with a strong emphasis on cancer epigenomicsExtensive hands-on experience in sequencing assays and pipeline developmentProven track-record of developing state-of-the-art computational methods for high throughput sequencing data processingStrong foundation in quantitative reasoning, statistical analysis and applied machine learningStrong computational and programming skills, with hands-on experience with Python and its scientific library stack (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn)Experience using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scriptsAbility to perform hypothesis driven research, visualize findings and summarize results in oral and written formHigh scientific rigor and eager to teach and learn about new computational methods and biologyThe pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
