Senior Backend Engineer – Automation Systems & Cloud Infrastructure - Contract to Hire
We’re looking for a senior engineer with experience building reliable, scalable backend systems that operate under real-world constraints. This role focuses on system design, infrastructure scalability, and production automation. Required Experience- AI Experience Experience integrating AI/LLMs into production systems Using AI as part of decision-making or workflow orchestration (not research or demos) Comfortable designing systems where AI output must be reliable and predictable System Design- Strong experience designing queue-based, asynchronous systems Building step-based workflows with retries and partial failure handling Comfortable reasoning about throughput, backpressure, and concurrency Experience with state machines and idempotent operations Infrastructure & Scalability- Hands-on experience scaling backend systems under load Designing worker-based services and background processing pipelines Practical approach to scaling and reliability (no over-engineering) Cloud Infrastructure- Experience deploying and operating services on AWS or GCP Familiarity with containerized workloads (Docker) Experience with managed queues, background workers, and schedulers APIs- Designing and consuming APIs at scale Handling rate limits, retries, and third-party failures gracefully Building resilient integrations with external systems Automation (Critical)- Experience running browser-based automation in production Familiarity with Playwright or Puppeteer Experience dealing with flaky automation, timeouts, and failure recovery Apply tot his job
