Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer

As an applied machine learning engineer at Vanta, you will play a crucial role in shaping Vantas AI offerings, improving the performance of our AI systems, and setting technical strategy for our end to end ML/AI architecture. Youll form the core AI team around which many AI applications will be built and shipped.
The AI team aims to revolutionize the operation of security and compliance programs. We are doing so by streamlining the tedious Q&A process in security reviews and arming our users with actionable insights based on their business context and vantas subject matter expertise.
As a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer, you will be working alongside a multidisciplinary group of Product engineers, other MLEs, PMs, and security and compliance experts to implement, scale, and maintain ML pipelines to provide value to our users.

What youll do as a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer at Vanta:
Youll be conceptualizing, designing, and evaluating AI/ML solutions from both a platform and a product perspective.
Youll collect, analyze, and synthesize findings from data and improve performance of AI systems through training, fine-turning, and RLHF.
Youll partner with product teams to define product strategies and drive directions for Vantas AI offerings
Youll work with other engineers to architect and implement a scalable ML infrastructure, including data pipeline, monitoring, and LLM-specific pipelines (LLM-Ops).
Youll research and apply state-of-the-art techniques in machine learning to improve model performance, and convert research output into best practice, production-grade software
How to be successful in this role:
You are a strong coder.
You have experience building ML systems from ground up, shipping ML solutions to production, and owning the full ML development lifecycle.
Expertise in building, deploying and maintaining LLM-based applications in productions: embeddings, RAG, Agent, prompt engineering, and fine tuning.
Strong understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, model evaluation techniques, and quality hill-climbing.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical skills is a plus.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below. The base pay range for this position is $160,000 - $215,000. This role may also be eligible for commissions/bonus, equity, medical benefits, 401(k) plan, and other company perk programs.
