Remote DE Mortgage Underwriter (must reside in EST)
SolomonEdwards is partnering with a leading, nationwide mortgage lender to identify Remote Mortgage Underwriters to support high-quality, compliant loan decisions. In this role, you will be accountable for the quality and accuracy of underwriting decisions, ensuring that reviewed assets and loan files meet all applicable investors, agency, and regulatory requirements.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a strong history of on-time conversion to permanent employment for high-performing underwriters.
What You’ll Do:
• Review all mortgage applications and support documentation for accuracy, completeness, and salability (processing 2 loans per day)
• Work with clients to prepare mortgage applications and related documentation as needed, help resolve any outstanding issues
• Work with compliance officers to ensure Federal, State, and local compliance of all mortgage and loan materials
• Approve or deny mortgages on a timely basis
• Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values
What We’re Looking For:
• 3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience
• Strong knowledge frontline underwriting
• Encompass experience preferred, not required
• High level of attention to detail with sound judgment and decision-making skills
• Direct Endorsement (DE certification)
Initial Compensation & Benefits (Contract Phase):
• Pay rate up to $36/hour, plus 1.5x overtime pay over 40 hours
• Please note that pay rate can be up to $36.06/hr if DE certified

• This position has a consistently high, on-time conversion rate for contractors who meet performance expectations. At 800 hours (~5.5 months), our contractors are eligible to become permanent employees.
Benefits After Conversion to Permanent Employee:
• Opportunity to earn a performance incentive each quarter up to $4,100. This can be as much as $6 to $7 more an hour above your base salary. (approximately $16,400 annually)
