We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Reading & Writing Academic Preparation & Placement (APP) Teaching Assistant at the University of Kentucky. As a remote Teaching Assistant, you will have the freedom and flexibility to work from anywhere while making a meaningful impact on the academic success of undergraduate students.
About Us:Transformative Learning (TL) provides academic preparation programming and support services to help undergraduate students master the skills needed to become successful lifelong learners. Our team is dedicated to enhancing the academic experience of students at UK by working closely with campus partners to develop student-responsive programs.
Responsibilities:
Work with students in a classroom and one-on-one setting to teach reading and study skills strategies
Apply reading strategies to course texts across disciplines
Create and present workshops related to reading comprehension
Assist with placement testing activities
Perform other duties as assigned by the APP Assistant Director
Requirements:
Pursuing a doctoral or master's degree at the University of Kentucky in English, Writing, Rhetoric, Communication, or a related field
Minimum of 18 credit hours at the graduate level
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team
Comfortable speaking in front of large groups
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
Experience with design, marketing, statistical analysis, curriculum design, teaching, or formative and summative assessment
Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program at the University of Kentucky
