What We're Looking For

We are seeking dedicated individuals who are passionate about healthcare and customer service to join our team as Pharmacy Technicians. In this role, you will be the face of our pharmacy, interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and our retail customers. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to help others.

Key Responsibilities


Patient Interaction: Engage customers and patients by greeting them and providing assistance with services and products. Resolve customer issues and answer inquiries to ensure a positive customer experience.
Prescription Processing: Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
Medication Preparation: Under the supervision of a pharmacist, assist in filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical tablets, verifying medication is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
Quality Assurance: Report immediately any prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company rules and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement programs.
Customer Service Excellence: Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a unique and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits such as greeting, eye contact, and courtesy.
Cash Handling: Be responsible for registering all related income on assigned cash register, collecting and handling cash as required. Assist customers to OTC aisles when possible to help find products.
Phone Communications: Handle telephone calls that don't require personal attention of the pharmacist, including calls to physicians.
Claims Processing: Correctly and resubmit manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
Inventory Management: Assist and support Pharmacy department on stock management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of prescription drugs.
Regulatory Compliance: Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers. Review and comply with the arenaflex Pharmacy Code of conduct.
Clinical Support: May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services such as the collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples from patients and other medical services as required.
Community Relations: Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
Facility Maintenance: Assist with outside and inside maintenance by ensuring the pharmacy department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.


Essential Qualifications


Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Strong math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medicines
Good computer skills for pharmacy system operations
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Commitment to providing exceptional customer service
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads


Preferred Qualifications


Six months or more of experience in a retail environment
Previous work experience in a pharmacy setting
Knowledge of store inventory control procedures
PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) certification or willingness to obtain certification
Previous experience with pharmacy management systems
Bilingual capabilities (especially Spanish) are a plus

arenaflex is proud to invest in and champion an "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician training program recognized by ASHP and the Department of Labor. This apprenticeship program gives you an entry point to a career in healthcare by guiding you in taking steps toward becoming a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certified Pharmacy Technician and supporting you in maintaining the high level of skill required in the pharmacy care industry.

The courses, learning activities, and resources provided to you in our pharmacy technician training program are designed to offer you foundational and advanced knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experiences you need to prepare to become a licensed pharmacy technician. Through completion of the arenaflex pharmacy technician apprenticeship program, experience qualifies for 8 (8) college credit hours as recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE). This course is recommended for 3 semester hours at the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and 5 semester hours in the upper-division baccalaureate degree category for a total of 8 semester hours.

You will attend training and complete required learning modules requested by your manager while acquiring continuing education credit. You'll maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest information and developments. As you grow in your role, you'll have opportunities for career advancement to senior technician positions and beyond.
