These four entities are:Forestry & Utility DivisionEnvironmental DivisionTechnology & Innovation DivisionSustainability DivisionJOB SUMMARY: The Archaeologist III will plan and support cultural resources projects throughout the Great Basin region, including fieldwork coordination, field data management, deliverables preparation and support, agency coordination, and other cultural resources-related project activities.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions:Pre-field literature reviewsBackground and archival researchPlan and coordinate fieldworkAssess and manage field data collected by othersArchaeological site and isolate field documentationNRHP eligibility evaluationsDraft deliverables preparation and deliverable revisionsDaily monitoring and/or inspection formsDraft monitoring reports, testing and excavation logs, and excavation technical reportsCoordinate with state and federal agenciesReview cultural resource documents on behalf of state and federal agenciesServe as a Field Director or Principal InvestigatorConduct Class III (intensive pedestrian) cultural resources inventoryDocument archaeological sites and IOs/IFsConduct probing, shovel testing, and/or data recovery excavationConduct archaeological monitoring during various construction activitiesMaintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetingsSupport, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s and Eocene Environmental Group's culture of safety and employee ownershipComply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and proceduresOTHER DUTIES: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Position may require some outside travelJOB REQUIREMENTS:Master's degree in archaeology, anthropology, or closely related fieldCompletion of a field schoolMinimum of 4 years of professional experience, with at least 2 years specifically in a Field Director rolePermitted or qualified for agency permitting based on the SOI Professional Qualification Standards statewide in UtahPermitted or permittable on BLM lands statewide in UtahProficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology statewide in UtahProficient in documenting archaeological sites and isolates statewide in UtahUse hand-held field technology (i.e., ArcGIS phone/tablet application paired with sub-meter GPS receivers)Survey an average of 50 acres/8 miles per day (not including resource documentation) and carry personal health and safety equipment (i.e., personal water, sunscreen, etc.)Work in moderate weather conditions (fluctuating temperatures and inclement weather, including rain and snow)Perform work duties independently and efficiently, while working in a team settingAbility to follow instruction and to make adjustments when provided feedbackOrganized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthyExcellent navigational skills (GPS and compass) and ability to navigate and drive 4WD vehiclesAbility to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendorsPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Preferred 6 -8 years of professional archaeological experienceProficiency using phone or tablets to document cultural resourcesProficiency with sub-meter GPS receiverProficiency with ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 applications (for phone or tablet)Previous NHPA, NEPA, FERC, and/or other cultural or environmental trainingsStrong writing and editing skillsStrong communication and organization skillsAbility to evaluate resources for NRHP-eligibilityAuthored multiple archaeological site forms and inventory reports.Authored a master’s degree thesisPrior experience supporting state and federal agenciesPrior experience supporting utility compliance inspection projectsEocene Environmental Group, Inc. provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.https://wrightservicecorp.com/privacy-policy
