About the Student Conduct Office and the Division of Student Affairs The Student Conduct Office is committed to encouraging the development and well-being of all students by promoting reflection, fostering accountability, and educating students and campus partners on individual rights and responsibilities within the university community. The office offers educational presentations and workshops, responds to cases of alleged student rule violations, and refers students and student organizations to appropriate resources. As a Student Development Specialist II, you will be an integral part of this process, working closely with students, faculty, and staff to resolve conduct cases, design and implement educational programs, and provide training and support to the university community. The Division of Student Affairs is dedicated to supporting the university's mission by providing a comprehensive range of programs and services that foster student success, promote student development, and enhance the overall student experience. Key Responsibilities Conduct Administration: Facilitate the resolution of student conduct and organizational conduct cases, reviewing reports, meeting with students and stakeholders, and assigning educational sanctions as needed. Presentation and Workshops: Design, implement, and evaluate presentations and workshops for students, faculty, and staff, including Ethics & Decision-Making workshops and Hazing Education Workshops. Training and Support: Provide ongoing training and support to staff, faculty, and students on student conduct-related topics, serving as a resource for consultation and guidance. Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain positive working relationships with office stakeholders, providing information, responding to requests, and maintaining a professional demeanor. Content Knowledge and Professional Development: Stay current on trends in student conduct, new legislation, and national standards, working with your supervisor to create and maintain a professional development plan. Assessment and Evaluation: Assist with office assessment, developing outcomes, implementing assessments, interpreting findings, and maintaining required documentation. University, Division, and Department Duties: Serve as a representative on committees and task forces, attend events, and participate in department and division meetings, trainings, and functions. Essential Qualifications and Preferred Skills To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. One or more years of experience in student affairs work or a related specialty (no experience required with a Master's degree). Attention to detail, confidentiality, and dependability. Ability to multi-task, work cooperatively with others, and follow through with administrative tasks in a timely manner. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Preferred skills and qualifications include: Experience working in a higher education setting, particularly in student conduct or a related field. Knowledge of student development theory and practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
