Manager, Quality Assurance and Compliance
About the position
The Manager, Quality Assurance and Compliance at Guardian is responsible for leading the Quality and Compliance Team to ensure adherence to underwriting and rating functions, as well as compliance with internal and external rules. This role focuses on maintaining state and company compliance, mentoring staff, and enhancing quality assurance processes to support strategic initiatives and improve customer satisfaction. The manager will cultivate relationships with business partners, oversee daily activities, and adapt quality programs to meet changing business needs.
Responsibilities
Lead the Quality and Compliance Team in performing quality reviews of Underwriting and Rating functions.

Process audits against internal and external compliance rules.
,
Ensure Underwriting Department policies and procedures maintain state and company compliance.
,
Monitor, mentor, and develop the performance of the QA staff and overall team.
,
Cultivate relationships with business partners to relay QA performance and provide trend data.
,
Oversee and continuously improve all aspects of the Quality Assurance area.
,
Support strategic initiatives and adapt QA programs to changing business needs.
,
Build a high-performing culture focused on driving Quality Assurance and UW Compliance toward Best in Class.
,
Manage daily activities, volume/capacity management, and service strategy execution.
,
Partner with Underwriting management to develop and maintain an impactful Quality Assurance program.
,
Identify, monitor, report, and achieve quality objectives in support of department requirements.
,
Mitigate significant quality risks within new and ongoing products and processes.
,
Drive program enhancements and tool development to improve QA processing and reporting.
,
Ensure compliance with state and company mandated policies and maintain effective internal controls.
,
Work with internal compliance and audit teams to ensure UW adherence.
,
Manage OTAR process and recordkeeping of relevant UW vendor products.
,
Instill a culture of urgent execution, innovation, and continuous improvement.
,
Identify training needs or system/process inefficiencies and collaborate with appropriate teams.
,
Develop efficient and cost-effective standard operating procedures and process improvements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree preferred, will consider equivalent work experience.
,
5+ years of Group Insurance experience.
,
Excellent leadership skills to effectively manage staff and lead virtual, cross-functional teams.
,
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
,
Experience functioning efficiently in a results-driven environment.
,
Underwriting knowledge of group dental, disability, life insurance, Leave and Supplemental Health is a plus.
,
A keen understanding of the insurance industry's best practices, growth patterns, and trends.

Proven interpersonal skills to work well with clients, customers, peers, and management at all levels.
