One Data Streaming Platform.About the Role:As an Engineering Leader in the Connect framework and platform team in the Connect Engineering organization, you will be working closely with senior engineers on the team and with other key stakeholders across the engineering organization to design, architect and evolve our Connect platform and framework to scale our business to 10x and beyond. You are not confined to the status quo and you leverage your expertise in large-scale distributed systems and big data to help take our platform to the next level. You worry about key operational aspects (availability, reliability, performance, monitoring, emergency response, capacity planning, disaster recovery) of our infrastructure, and you make sure that we have a highly-available, resilient and secure offering that some of the world’s largest businesses can rely on. If you love the hum of big data systems, thinking about how to make them run as smoothly as possible, and want to make a big impact on the trajectory of this fast-growing business, then you will fit right in.What You Will Do:You will work with a team of engineers and architects to help evolve the Kafka connect framework and platformWork with engineering teams and product on critical aspects of product definition, architectural design, and deliveryWork closely with product management, engineering leadership, and other key stakeholders across various teams in Confluent and Confluent Cloud to build and drive the overall roadmapInfluence the overall domain health and operational hygiene for the Cloud PlatformWhat You Will Bring:Overall 14+ years of experience in software development and engineering space.At least 5+ years of engineering management experience leading productive, high-functioning teams.Ability to hire while ensuring a high hiring bar, keep engineers motivated, coach/mentor, and handle performance management.A great track record of shipping features and hitting deadlines consistently; should be able to move fast, build in increments and iterate; have a sense of urgency, aggressive mindset towards achieving results and excellent prioritization skills; able to anticipate future technical needs for the product and craft plans to realize them.Ability to influence the team, peers, and upper management using effective communication and collaborative techniques; focused on building and maintaining a culture of collaboration within the team.Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and operations.Familiarity with Kafka or similar high-scale distributed event streaming platforms.Solid experience working with large private or public clouds.A self starter with the ability to work effectively in teamsExcellent communication skillsWhat Gives You an Edge:Experience with open-source development, experience using Kafka Connect a plusExperience working with stream processing technologies is a plusExperience with Kubernetes a plusExperience with Java/JVM a plusReady to build what's next?
