Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Lead Data Scientist to lead the development and implementation of advanced mathematical and statistical models that solve complex business problems in retail. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be responsible for transforming retail operations by automating manual processes and decision-making through the application of mathematical and statistical models. You will collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and summarize large amounts of time-series data to generate key insights that drive innovative applications.

Key Responsibilities:


Lead the development and implementation of advanced mathematical and statistical models to solve complex business problems in retail.
Transform retail operations by automating manual processes and decision-making through the application of mathematical and statistical models.
Collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and summarize large amounts of time-series data to generate key insights that drive innovative applications.
Analyze complex and rich data, examine business problems, develop problem statements, define metrics, and drive feasibility studies.
Perform data exploration tasks, extract insights, and create storyboards from data analysis.
Present clear and accurate root-cause analysis to data scientists and leadership.
Build training workflows for machine learning algorithms on large datasets and create algorithmic solutions, including data science, feature engineering, model development, validation, and model deployment.
Lead and develop large-scale implementations of machine learning models and algorithmic solutions using rich retail data sources.
Review model performance and identify improvements to enhance models.
Collaborate with global AI teams, scientists, engineers, and business partners to identify and lead new opportunities.


Requirements

Education:

At least a Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field, and at least seven (7) years of experience as a data or machine learning scientist (any title) including:


Undertaking advanced machine learning activities (regression, clustering, and forecasting).
Using the development and implementation of analytical and data science modeling solutions through the use of strategies, including data mining, machine learning, or text mining.
Using mathematical concepts, algorithms, and computational complexity.
Participating with colleagues to bring business value to the organization.
Imparting findings and reports to stakeholders.
Using Python, SQL, R, SAS, risk assessment, and data manipulation.


Alternatively, a doctoral (PhD) degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field, and at least four (4) years of experience as a data or machine learning scientist (any title) including:


Undertaking advanced machine learning activities (regression, clustering, and forecasting).
Using the development and implementation of analytical and data science modeling solutions through the use of strategies, including data mining, machine learning, or text mining.
Using mathematical concepts, algorithms, and computational complexity.
Participating with colleagues to bring business value to the organization.
Imparting findings and reports to stakeholders.
Using Python, SQL, R, SAS, risk assessment, and data manipulation.


Skills and Competencies:


Strong background in mathematics, statistics, or a related quantitative field.
Proficiency in machine learning, data mining, and statistical modeling.
Experience with programming languages, including Python, SQL, R, SAS, and Java.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
