Junior Data Engineer- Snowflake - US citizens/Federal Project
Overview
Oran Inc. is seeking a Junior Snowflake Data Engineer to support a federal data modernization initiative. This role focuses on migrating legacy SAS ETL processes into a Snowflake ELT architecture on AWS. You will collaborate with senior engineers to develop ingestion frameworks, ensure data quality, and support production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Snowflake Development
ā¢ Develop and maintain tables (RAW, TARGET), views, stored procedures, tasks, and streams
ā¢ Implement COPY INTO for file ingestion
ā¢ Support incremental and historical data loads
ā¢ Assist with schema validation and evolution
AWS & Data Integration
ā¢ Work with Amazon S3 for data ingestion and storage
ā¢ Understand IAM role basics
ā¢ Support file processing (CSV, pipe-delimited, fixed-width, GZIP/ZIP)
Data Engineering & ELT
ā¢ Load and transform data across Bronze (RAW), Silver, and Gold layers
ā¢ Perform data validation (row counts, duplicates, schema checks)
ā¢ Support metadata tracking and run documentation
Data Quality & Support
ā¢ Reconcile Snowflake outputs against legacy SAS datasets
ā¢ Troubleshoot data discrepancies and load failures
DevOps & Deployment
ā¢ Use Azure DevOps Git for version control
ā¢ Support deployments across DEV, STG, and PROD
ā¢ Follow structured branching and folder standards
Required Qualifications
ā¢ 1ā3 years of data engineering or ETL experience
ā¢ Strong SQL skills (joins, aggregations, window functions)
ā¢ Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse
ā¢ Experience with AWS S3
ā¢ Understanding of incremental load concepts and relational modeling
ā¢ **must be an USC
Preferred
ā¢ Experience migrating legacy ETL (SAS, Informatica)
ā¢ Snowflake Tasks, Streams, and Stored Procedures
ā¢ AWS Glue familiarity
ā¢ Exposure to CI/CD and data quality frameworks
