Freelance Local News Journalist (Lehigh Valley)
Location: Allentown, Bethlehem, or Easton, PA (Required) About the Role We're seeking a dedicated local news journalist to join our startup news team covering the Lehigh Valley. This position requires a passion for journalism, strong attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy. Key Responsibilities ? Publish a minimum of two original articles daily ? Pitch/develop story ideas and accept assignments as needed ? Attend local events and conduct interviews with community sources ? Research, write, and fact-check news content on deadline ? Cover breaking local and regional news as required ? Work collaboratively with the editorial team ? Take basic photos to accompany news stories ? Follow journalistic standards, ethics, and AP style guidelines Requirements ? Writing samples required for application ? Associate degree or higher in journalism, communications, or related field ? Ability to capture photos and short vertical videos with iPhone ? Strong writing and communication skills ? Experience conducting and recording interviews ? Ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities ? Proficiency in research and fact-checking using social media and community sources ? Knowledge of AP style and journalistic ethics ?
