This role is ideal for someone who understands accounting but prefers to build the tools and systems that make finance faster, more accurate, and easier to scale. You’ll work closely with our BI and Accounting teams to transition manual workflows into automated, reliable, and auditable processes using SQL, Python, and modern reporting tools. Your work will improve how we close the books, track performance, and deliver insights across the business. This role is ideal for someone who likes building systems, solving process challenges with code, and turning messy data into something finance teams can actually use. You will report directly to our Controller.How You’ll Make an ImpactBuild and automate core accounting workflows like variance analysis, reconciliations, and close reportingPartner with BI to structure financial data models and pipelinesTranslate accounting and reporting needs into SQL- or Python-based toolsAggregate and clean data from ERP and subledger systems for reporting and analysisCreate dashboards and tools that make financial data easier to access and act onSupport audits by improving traceability and documentation of financial processesHelp manage finance systems such as NetSuite, Aleph, and AP automation toolsImprove internal controls and support better decision-making by reducing manual workWhy You’re a Great FitBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field3-5 years of experience in a finance, accounting, or data-focused roleStrong SQL skills; experience with Python or scripting tools is a plusComfortable working in Excel, but interested in building solutions that go beyond itFamiliarity with ERP systems like NetSuite, Oracle, or SAPAble to work independently and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teamsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailPreferred but not required: experience with BI tools like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI; exposure to data transformation tools such as dbt or Alteryx; familiarity with accounting principles and financial reporting logic; CPA or currently pursuing CPAOur Interview ProcessInitial Recruiter Call: A conversation to learn about your experience and what you're looking for in your next role.Hiring Manager Interview: A deeper discussion about your background and the Finance Systems & Automation Analyst roleSQL Interview: An interview with a member of our BI team to assess your SQL knowledgeSkills Panel: Meet with Empower team members to discuss your expertise and approach to problem-solving.Leadership Conversation: Final conversation with our CFO to discuss our mission and how you could contribute to it (and how we can help you achieve your career goals along the way).Don't meet every qualification?
