About the Role: Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering Group within the Integrated Operations Division at our Charlotte, North Carolina facility. As a Senior Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive engineering support to the maintenance and operation of aircraft and related equipment. This pivotal role involves establishing and maintaining aircraft and component standards within your areas of responsibility, ensuring that every aircraft we operate meets the highest levels of safety, reliability, and performance.

What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities

This role offers the chance to work at the intersection of technical expertise, leadership, and aviation excellence. Your daily responsibilities will include:


Training and Mentorship: Conduct specialized training sessions for Engineers in your area(s) of expertise, sharing your knowledge and helping develop the next generation of aviation engineering talent.
Technical Guidance: Serve as a trusted mentor and guide to other Engineers, providing expert advice and support on complex technical challenges.
Team Leadership: Lead and facilitate project management initiatives and issue resolution efforts, driving results and ensuring timely completion of critical engineering projects.
Regulatory Compliance: Coordinate with manufacturers and regulatory authorities as required, ensuring that all Engineering practices are properly validated according to applicable regulations and Company manuals.
Customized Procedures Development: Develop customized methods and special instructions for repairs, modifications, inspections, adjustments, and other maintenance activities that are not adequately addressed in existing manuals.
Operational Awareness: Stay informed about daily airline operations within your field of responsibility, reviewing daily needs according to aircraft and departmental objectives and management directives.
Issue Analysis and Resolution: Analyze aircraft and component issues that may cause flight delays or cancellations, significant expenditures in labor or materials, or breaks in maintenance activities, determining appropriate corrective actions.
Technical Support: Provide Engineering support as needed for disposition of discrepant situations affecting aircraft or parts to restore operable status.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Respond to requests from Maintenance and other airline departments when technical support is needed to assist operations or resolve issues.
Project Planning: Develop operational plans for fleet and multi-fleet and component engineering projects, pursuing detailed resolutions according to assessed needs.
Documentation Excellence: Prepare Engineering documents to implement technical practices by providing customized procedures for repairs, modifications, inspections, or other maintenance activities that provide benefits according to aircraft and departmental targets and management directives.
Regulatory Knowledge: Maintain current knowledge of existing and forthcoming regulations that affect areas of responsibility, ensuring that all Engineering activities maintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement: Utilize available resources to increase levels of technical expertise and practical experience continuously. Also endeavor to improve communication skills, time management, and other personal characteristics relevant to maximum effectiveness and efficiency in performing assigned duties.
Team Engagement: Actively engage with frontline colleagues and management in a collaborative, solution-oriented manner.


What You'll Bring: Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Qualifications


Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering field or related Engineering certification
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of engineering experience in a related field OR 2 years of experience without a degree
Technical Certification: Current A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) license is required


Required Skills, Licenses & Certifications


Technical Proficiency: A&P license required
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Analytical Abilities: Strong capability to analyze technical data and make information-driven decisions
Adaptability: Demonstrated aptitude, ability, and willingness to take on new roles and responsibilities
Communication Skills: Ability to prepare and deliver presentations that advance acceptance of initiatives
Interpersonal Skills: Capacity to connect with internal and external customers effectively
Problem-Solving: Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to technical specifications and regulatory requirements
Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities


Preferred Qualifications


Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field
Previous experience in commercial airline maintenance engineering
Familiarity with FAA regulations and aircraft manufacturer specifications
Experience with fleet management and component tracking systems
Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification
Previous leadership or project management experience in aviation
