We're now seeking a compassionate and experienced mentor to join our virtual program and play a vital role in guiding a college student towards success. About Our Mentoring Program Our mentoring program is designed to provide students with the guidance, advice, and encouragement they need to thrive in college and beyond. By pairing scholarship recipients with volunteers from the community who have two- or four-year degrees, we create a supportive network that fosters academic achievement, personal growth, and professional development. Our mentors are the backbone of our program, and we're looking for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact on the life of a college student. Key Responsibilities Exchange messages with your assigned student twice a month through our online platform, Chronus, to provide guidance, support, and encouragement. Meet with your student three times a year, either virtually or in-person, to discuss their progress, goals, and challenges. Commit to a multi-year relationship with your student, providing ongoing support and guidance throughout their college journey. Participate in ongoing training and networking opportunities to enhance your mentoring skills and stay connected with other mentors. Work collaboratively with our Mentoring Program staff to ensure the success of your mentoring relationship and the overall effectiveness of our program. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must: Hold a two- or four-year college degree from an accredited institution. Be willing to undergo a background check facilitated by College Now. Reside in the United States. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Be committed to making a positive difference in the life of a college student. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Previous experience mentoring or working with college students. Knowledge of the challenges faced by first-generation college students. Experience working with diverse populations. Strong understanding of the importance of mentorship in academic success. Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you'll need: Excellent communication skills : The ability to effectively communicate with your student through various channels, including email and in-person meetings. Empathy and compassion : A genuine interest in supporting and guiding your student through their college journey. Flexibility and adaptability : The ability to adjust to the changing needs and circumstances of your student. Patience and understanding : A willingness to listen and provide guidance without judgment.
