About the Role We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Esports Head Coach to oversee all aspects of our Esports program. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective communication and planning, strong organizational and administrative skills, and sound decision-making. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the recruitment and retention of Esports team members, organizing practices, games, tournaments, and individual skill instruction sessions, and working directly with leagues as a liaison for the University. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of the Esports program, including recruitment, retention, and team management Organize, plan, and conduct practices, games, tournaments, and individual skill instruction sessions Work directly with leagues as a liaison for the University, ensuring compliance with all league, conference, and institutional rules and regulations Coordinate with the athletic communications office to provide accurate data for game scores, individual and team accomplishments, and other relevant information Participate in the development of the whole student, regarding individual well-being and life skills, and help monitor and ensure the academic progress of team members Represent the program with the highest level of professionalism, sportsmanship, and integrity, fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as trust and mutual respect Provide ongoing input on the design of the esports facility and selection of equipment, as well as preventive maintenance of inventory Requirements and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to have: Minimum 1-2 years of coaching experience in eSports, with a detailed knowledge of the eSports industry A Master's degree preferred, although a Bachelor's degree is required Experience competing in competitive eSports leagues, with a strong understanding of the gaming landscape Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external partners A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for creating a positive and inclusive team culture Essential Skills and Competencies Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external partners Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for creating a positive and inclusive team culture Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Sacred Heart University, we are committed to the growth and development of our staff and faculty.
