Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and visionary Department Chair, Business and Real Estate, to lead our academic programs and faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, promoting academic excellence, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities Articulate the department's goals and needs to advance the department's programs within the School and outside the institution Confer with internal and external stakeholders and advisory groups to obtain knowledge of student, curricular, occupational, discipline, or University needs Collaborate with cross-functional departments and program stakeholders to develop, measure, and evaluate student learning outcomes, instructional efficacy, and student persistence and retention for continuous improvement Contribute to and participate in the annual strategic planning and budgeting processes Manage student conduct, appeals, and grievance processes Hire, develop, support, and evaluate faculty Document faculty successes and improvements in teaching, research, curriculum management, and service Recognize faculty and colleagues for outstanding performance and accomplishments Assign courses and credential faculty to teach Assign appropriate amount of curriculum development to faculty Regularly communicate with faculty and convene regular faculty meetings Essential Qualifications Doctoral degree in Business or Management from a regionally accredited institution Master's degree in Business, Management, or Real Estate Five or more years of college-level teaching experience Three or more years of leadership experience Professional certification(s) in one or more of the areas listed above (preferred) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar programs Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Experience successfully working as a team member Preferred Qualifications Experience in online education and academic administration Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional design Familiarity with accreditation standards and processes Experience with budgeting and financial management Strong leadership and management skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks Skills and Competencies Strong leadership and management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing demands Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to adapt to changing priorities and strategic initiatives Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At APUS, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
