Join Apple's Innovative Team as a Custom Circuits Design Engineer

Apple is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Custom Circuits Design Engineer to join our team in California, USA, on a part-time remote basis. As a key member of our Silicon Design team, you will play a crucial role in designing advanced custom digital megacells used in high-performance/low power System-on-Chips (SOCs).

As a Custom Circuits Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing custom circuits that enable our products to deliver unparalleled performance, efficiency, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities


Foster custom circuits to improve chip power efficiency and performance
Collaborate with power teams, Physical Design (PD), and architects to define specifications and requirements
Perform design, analysis, modeling/simulation, circuit-level specifications, schematic capture, spice simulation/corner verification across Process, Voltage, and Temperature (PVT), statistical design, functional verification, and silicon bring-up
Work closely with the layout team to complete the design and oversee design quality
Create/drive circuit methodology to achieve the highest design quality standards


Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess:


A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
At least 3 years of relevant industry experience in custom circuit design, preferably in advanced technology nodes
Experience in designing low voltage/low power custom circuits, such as SRAM memories, on-chip sensors, and ML accelerators
Strong understanding of deep submicron device physics, leakage mechanisms, and technology interactions with device behavior
Proficiency in scripting languages (Python/Perl or others) and CAD automation tools
Knowledge of industry-standard circuit and design tools


Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that will make you a more competitive candidate include:


Experience in one or more of the following areas: AI accelerators, SRAM circuits, non-volatile memories, weak/moderate inversion circuits, ultra-low power amplifiers, DC/DC converters, digital on-chip sensors, high-speed timing, and time-to-digital converters (TDCs)
Familiarity with UVM and social models for random logic blocks
Ability to conduct experiments during silicon debug, manufacturing, and data analysis, and use scripting to support efficient treatment of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) data
