In this role, a Designer/Engineer in Training will learn the foundation of designing electrical systems and work independently under the direction of the Project Manager.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain a knowledge of design and CAD applicationsDevelop an understanding of the construction processAssist in the development of Schematic Design information, such as equipment selections, room sizes, and space requirementsResearch equipment selections and complete equipment schedules under the direction of the project teamResearch design options and document findings for the project teamIncorporate design concepts from Schematic Design into Design DevelopmentWork to produce Construction DocumentsDocument existing conditionsLearn how to lay out portions of the mechanical or electrical systems for the projectLearn and assist in the production of calculations such as building HVAC loads, energy calculations, technology systems capacities, lighting and power distribution calculations and equipment sizingProvide drafting and documentation for projects, including implementing sketches and design concepts from othersEncourage to try solving engineering solutions with the project team using experience, judgment, and educationWork to understand and assist in the coordination of ceiling, wall clearances, and structural impacts with design team and other design professionalsAssist in the drafting of specialized diagrams such as plumbing isometrics or electrical risersAssist in gathering specification sectionsAssemble details with guidance from the Project Team that will be used on projectsSkillsAssociate or bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited university or college required0-2 years' experienceBasic knowledge of electrical systemsProficient in the use of current technology, including hardware and software applicationsUnderstanding of how to effectively use Revit and/or AutoCADBenefitsGreat Medical, Dental, & Vision benefitsEmployer paid short term/long term disability and life insurance.401(k) with generous employer matchPaid community service day and floating holidayFlexible workplace options-in office and hybridMonthly parking allowance or bus passCompany OverviewMichaud Cooley Erickson was founded in 1946 and is one of the largest mechanical and electrical consulting engineering firms in the United States with licensed professionals in all 50 states.
