We're seeking a visionary Director of Quality Engineering (QE) and Systems Reliability Engineering (SRE) to lead our team in architecting, designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring, and operating applications at scale. About the Role As the Director of QE and SRE, you'll be responsible for building and managing a high-performing team of Managers, QEs, and SREs who support multiple sophisticated systems, underlying infrastructure, and applications across Disney. Your team will utilize a software engineering approach to ensure our solutions are efficient, effective, and resilient, ultimately enhancing our consumer experiences, enabling business growth, and advancing operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: Clearly communicate a compelling vision to your team, defining their purpose, ownership, and contribution to Disney's quality, excellence, and agile DevOps culture, while promoting technical innovation. Oversee financial planning, test and production environments, architectural fit, compliance, resource scheduling, delivery milestones, collaboration, and service level objectives. Mentor and develop managers and their teams of engineers in software, quality, systems reliability, and security engineering, while overseeing career management and setting operational direction. Provide senior-level technical direction on enterprise-level projects, championing change and proactive business development as a hands-on technical leader. Maintain high standards, practice continual improvement, and focus on details while solving multiple issues simultaneously. Deliver stellar customer service experiences to internal business partners, continually seeking opportunities for improvement. Regularly meet with key partners and collaborators to gain feedback, align with needs, and grow the team's impact. Demonstrate exemplary leadership and communication abilities, partnering with business, creative, and technology leaders to pitch new ideas and deliver public presentations. Own outcomes and resolve project or program delays, conflicts, and performance issues. Influence others through data-based persuasion and fact-based arguments. Lead by inspiration, bringing a can-do attitude and delivering exceptional results to your team and business partners. Essential Qualifications & Skills To succeed in this role, you'll need: 12+ years of experience leading engineering teams responsible for quality, supporting, and deploying products or services. 5+ years of previous hands-on experience as an engineer. Detailed knowledge of core internet protocols, programming languages, application development platforms, and scripting within tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Understanding of configuration management frameworks, performance testing and load testing tools, test automation frameworks/tools, and standards. Experience managing multiple hosting environments, including public and private cloud solutions, cloud-based testing, and API virtualization. Skills in data visualization, metrics & data analysis, requirements traceability and mapping, defect tracking, and bug reporting. Familiarity with test case design, test case management, accessibility/usability testing, vulnerability management, security testing, and penetration testing. Experience with risk management/risk assessment, quality assurance/control processes, and continuous integration/continuous delivery. Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements, such as SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, and confidential data management. Adeptness in overall software development life cycle and agile methodologies. Excellent written and verbal communications, with the ability to develop and deliver presentations for Senior and Executive Management. Validated ability to manage budgets, contract language, and vendor management relationships. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or a comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience. Preferred Qualifications Related certifications, such as CSTE, CTM, CSM, CSPO, AWS-CDE, AZ-400, CKA, CKAD, CISSP, CEH, CDMP, CGEIT, CRISC, ISTQB, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer. Master's Degree in a related field. What We Offer As a Disney Enterprise Technology team member, you'll be part of a dynamic and innovative environment that offers: A competitive salary range of $223,700 to $300,000 per year in Washington D.C. & Bristol CT, and $234,400 to $314,300 per year in New York City, depending on your location and experience.
