Job Summary:
This is a critical technical role supporting the Property Engagement Platform (PEP), a mission-critical application that serves as a cornerstone of Hilton's guest engagement strategy. You will be responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and operational excellence of NoSQL database systems that power latency-sensitive and high-throughput workloads. Working in a cloud-native AWS environment, you will collaborate closely with application development teams, cloud engineers, and DevOps professionals to design, optimize, and maintain NoSQL infrastructure that meets the demanding requirements of a global hospitality technology platform. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge database technologies while solving complex operational challenges at enterprise scale.
Responsibilities:
ā¢ Own operational support and lifecycle management for DynamoDB and DAX environments supporting PEP
ā¢ Partner with PEP application teams to design and validate DynamoDB data models, access patterns, and partition strategies
ā¢ Manage DynamoDB capacity planning, including on-demand vs provisioned throughput, autoscaling, and cost optimization
ā¢ Support and operate DAX clusters, including cache behavior tuning, failover considerations, and performance validation
ā¢ Design and support low-impact change and deployment strategies for NoSQL workloads
ā¢ Monitor NoSQL environments using CloudWatch and Datadog, identifying performance bottlenecks and availability risks
ā¢ Implement security controls including IAM-based access, encryption at rest and in transit, and least-privilege policies
ā¢ Collaborate with Cloud Engineering and DevOps teams using Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code to provision and manage NoSQL resources
ā¢ Support incident response and on-call rotations for production NoSQL platforms
ā¢ Produce operational documentation, runbooks, and best practices for NoSQL usage across PEP
ā¢ Provide guidance on NoSQL vs relational tradeoffs, ensuring appropriate technology choices for application use cases
Skills:
ā¢ Senior-level experience supporting DynamoDB in production environments
ā¢ Hands-on experience with DAX, including cache behavior, performance tuning, and operational considerations
ā¢ Strong understanding of NoSQL data modeling, partitioning, consistency models, and access pattern design
ā¢ Experience operating NoSQL systems at scale with high availability and low latency requirements
ā¢ Strong knowledge of AWS services including IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, and KMS
ā¢ Experience using Terraform or similar IaC tools to manage DynamoDB, DAX, and related infrastructure
ā¢ Experience supporting 24/7 production platforms and participating in on-call rotations
ā¢ Ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex production issues, and communicate clearly with application teams
ā¢ Availability to work U.S. Central Time hours in a remote capacity
ā¢ Experience with Couchbase (clusters, XDCR, upgrades, performance tuning) is a strong plus
ā¢ Experience with Amazon DocumentDB or MongoDB-compatible platforms is a strong plus
ā¢ Experience with Datadog for NoSQL monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding is a strong plus
ā¢ Background transitioning from relational databases (MySQL/Postgres) to NoSQL platforms is a strong plus
ā¢ Familiarity with high-scale, multi-region application architectures is a strong plus
