Croatian Travel Blog Writer (Croat, ideally journalism student) –English – Long-Term - Contract to Hire

Hi, I’m building Untold Croatia, a travel platform for foreign visitors planning a trip to Croatia. We’re starting from zero and the blog is the foundation. I’m looking for a Croatian writer (ideally a journalism student) who genuinely knows Croatia, loves travel, and can write in natural English with a real local voice. This is not a “quick AI SEO blog” project. I want content that feels human, helpful, and trustworthy, written like someone who actually understands the country and can guide a tourist properly, especially around Dalmatia. What you will do You will handle the content end-to-end. That means you research the topic, structure the article, write it, and include relevant external references when appropriate. Output You will write 3 posts per week (about 12 posts per month) in English. Style and quality The writing should be informative and structured, but still warm and enjoyable to read. Think “travel magazine + local friend,” not corporate tone and not robotic SEO writing. Every article must be original and plagiarism-free. SEO basics (required) You don’t need to be an SEO expert, but you must understand the basics: matching search intent, using clean headings, writing readable paragraphs, and naturally including the main topic and related terms without stuffing. Internal linking is not possible at the beginning because the blog is new, but as the site grows you’ll be expected to add internal links to relevant older posts. For now, include a small number of relevant external links to reputable sources when it makes sense (official tourism sites, city pages, national parks, ferry operators, etc.). Budget My current budget is fixed at 200 EUR per month for this workload (12 posts/month). As the website grows, the pay will grow too. We can also agree on additional bonuses based on performance and analytics over time. Social media (optional) If you can also manage social media posting based on the blog content and you do it well, we can discuss a higher monthly pay for that. For now, the priority is writing. Who I’m looking for A long-term partner who likes the concept and wants to stay with the project for a long time.
