About the position
The Crew Chief for Solid Waste Services is responsible for overseeing and supervising refuse collection crews, ensuring efficient waste management operations. This role involves training staff, managing routes, and maintaining high standards of customer service and safety in waste collection activities.
Responsibilities
Ā Supervise and assign the work of refuse collection crews in designated areas.

Ā Demonstrate proper collection methods and practices, including work safety techniques.

Ā Assist in designing collection routes and evaluating crew performance and workloads.

Ā Inspect refuse collection routes and conditions of containers.
,
Ā Establish new service, provide customer service, and address customer complaints.
,
Ā Train new employees on equipment operation and route requirements.
,
Ā Check refuse trucks for proper maintenance and cleanliness.
,
Ā Investigate accidents, injuries, and reported safety hazards.
,
Ā Operate a City vehicle daily to travel to various work sites.
Requirements
Ā Two (2) years of experience in performing manual work and using small hand/power tools and heavy machinery.

Ā One (1) year of experience in a lead worker or supervisory role is preferred.
,
Ā A high school diploma or GED is required.
,
Ā A valid Texas Class B CDL is required.
