Department Overview:Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is led by the vice chancellor for student affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy.Anticipated Start Date:8/4/2025Anticipated End Date (If Applicable):Remote Work Eligibility Detail:Partially RemoteAnticipated Hours Per Week:Minimum: 10 Maximum: 15Schedule:Flexible, established around class schedule. Must be able to work 10-15 hours during office hours of Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Some evening and weekend hours may be required for project work such as special events, photo shoots, event table hosting, etc.Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:Minimum: $15.00 Number of Positions:1Qualifications:Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail. Experience with social media and social management software strongly preferred. Strong editing, interviewing, and research skills. The ability to take initiative, think and work independently, and excellent judgment/problem-solving skills are a must. Prefer candidates majoring in strategic communications, journalism, communication arts, marketing, graphic design, or a related field. Position Summary/Job Duties:Use your passion for communication and campus to connect with fellow students as a communications associate with Student Affairs. This is a paid internship. At Student Affairs, we help students find their way on campus, know where to go for help, collaborate with campus partners, and so much more. This position works closely with the communications manager to curate social media, elevate campus happenings, and find new ways to connect with students on campus! From websites to social, in this position, this Student Affairs team member gains hands-on writing experience, has the opportunity to learn about real-world communications scenarios, and builds an extensive communications portfolio. Duties for this important position include but are not limited to: • Create compelling content through copywriting and the coordination of visual media assets.• Assist with the maintenance of and adherence to the editorial calendar.• Proofread communications pieces. Develop strategies to engage fellow students.• Create visual media assets for a wide range of communications.
• Other duties, as assigned.
