Aviation Crew Scheduling Specialist/Paralegal

About the position

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world, is seeking an experienced Paralegal for its Memphis, Tennessee office. This position is crucial in providing contractual and legal research support while assisting in the analysis of contractual disputes. The Paralegal will work under general supervision and within the limitations of Association policy, collaborating closely with MEC officers, representatives, and committee volunteers. The role involves gathering information and evidence to review and analyze potential contract issues, as well as supporting the development of strategies and tactics for resolution. In addition to interacting with pilot members to assess potential disputes under the collective bargaining agreement, the Paralegal will support pilot efforts to informally resolve disputes with management. This includes handling contractual appeals of unresolved disputes, processing cases to the System Board of Adjustment, preparing cases for the Board, and drafting post-hearing briefs. The Paralegal will also provide support in the preparation and processing of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) enforcement cases at all stages, including appeals and filing appeal briefs. The role requires individual responsibility and strong administrative abilities to ensure that tasks are completed as assigned and that important deadlines are met. Responsibilities
• Provide contractual and legal research support.

• Assist in the analysis of contractual disputes.

Requirements
• High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in relevant area preferred.

• Two (2) years of paralegal experience preferred or similar work experience such as airline crew scheduling.
,
• Paralegal Certificate preferred.
,
• Labor law experience strongly preferred.
,
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written.
,
• Understanding of pilot contracts, corporate practices, and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) preferred.
,
• Knowledge of pilot scheduling and work rules preferred.
,
• Excellent organizational skills.
,
• Able to work independently and proactively identify and respond to issues.
,
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; SharePoint preferred.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in labor law and airline industry practices.

• Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and dispute resolution processes.
