Job Summary:
We are seeking a US-based Copy Editor to proofread and edit assessment questions for a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification exam. The ideal candidate will have strong copy editing/proofreading skills, experience editing educational content or certification exams, and the ability to ensure clarity, consistency, fairness, and accuracy while preserving technical content related to corrective exercise, biomechanics, anatomy, and movement science.
Key Responsibilities:
• Proofread and edit multiple-choice and scenario-based exam questions
• Ensure grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and consistency
• Review content for ambiguity, bias, and fairness issues
• Maintain consistency in terminology, formatting, tone, and style
• Verify alignment between questions, answer options, and rationales
• Collaborate with SMEs, assessment developers, and project managers
• Follow confidentiality and exam security standards
• Meet deadlines with high editorial accuracy
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field
• 3+ years of copy editing/proofreading experience
• Experience editing educational content, assessments, certification exams, or standardized tests
• Strong command of US English grammar and style
• Must be US-based and authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with corrective exercise, fitness, rehabilitation, biomechanics, anatomy, or sports science terminology
• Experience with credentialing bodies, test development, or certification exams
• Knowledge of accessibility, inclusive language, and bias review best practices
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
