Description
Purpose As an Application Development Intern, you support the development team by testing applications, developing unit tests, contributing to front-end enhancements using light JavaScript, learning SQL to help build data testing, and learning Java to assist with the development of code.Responsibilities You will assist the Application Development team in a variety of functions, such as:Assist with testing web applications for functionality, usability, and data accuracy.Document and report bugs or inconsistencies in a clear and organized manner.Develop unit tests within Mendix.Develop Java code and unit tests for components.Support development efforts by writing and modifying light JavaScript.Collaborate with team members to understand business requirements and translate them into test cases or logic updates.Participate in team meetings and contribute to solution design discussions.Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.Learning OpportunitiesOpportunity to apply skills and knowledge learned in the classroom.Opportunity to learn the software development life cycle.Learn strong development practices: patterns, code reviews, version control, etc.Programs and projects to help expand public speaking and presentation skills.Exposure to various parts of the business, encouraging professional development and relationship building.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesFamiliarity with web application testing and quality assurance processes.Basic knowledge of JavaScript (or willingness to learn quickly).Basic knowledge of Object-Oriented concepts.Interest in low-code platforms like Mendix; prior exposure is a plus.Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.Eagerness to learn and take initiative on assigned tasks.Ability to communicate effectively across multiple channels and asynchronously in a remote-first working environment.RequirementsStudent must be enrolled in an accredited university working towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related degree. Ability to work in a fully remote working environment free from distractions and access to stable and reliable internet services. Employment ConditionsThe intern will be expected to work full-time at 37.5 hours/week over the summer, with the potential for part-time work continuing during the school year. This internship is classified as a temporary, part-time position. This internship is compensated as a non-exempt, hourly position. This internship position is fully remote.
