Job Description
The College of Education at Tarleton State University invites qualified applicants for anticipated part-time Adjunct Faculty positions in the Division of Child Development and Family Studies. These positions are designed to support our growing student enrollment for the 2025-2026 Academic Year at our online campus.
Successful candidates may teach up to six (6) semester credit hours in their respective disciplines, delivering instruction online, or as necessitated by student demand for the following areas: Family Life Education, Child Life, and Early Childhood Education. Additionally, they will be expected to hold office hours and provide necessary support to students. Must have the ability to work remotely at the request of the university in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
100% Teaching:
ā¢ Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate and/or graduate students, which may include general education core curriculum.
ā¢ Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, papers, etc.
ā¢ Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
ā¢ Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
ā¢ Provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours, feedback on assignments, and mentoring.
ā¢ Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements related to teaching responsibilities.
ā¢ Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.
Other information:
ā¢ Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester and on an as-needed basis.
ā¢ These temporary appointments are for the Academic Year 2025-2026 sub-terms.
Required Qualifications:
ā¢ Earned masters degree in the discipline or a closely related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Child/Human Development and/or Family Studies/Sciences.
ā¢ Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
ā¢ Earned doctorate/terminal degree in the discipline or a closely related field from an accredited university with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Child/Human Development and/or Family Studies/Sciences.
ā¢ Previous online teaching experience at the collegiate level.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for undergraduate and graduate-level instruction; written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching activities; ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.
